Beauty, Simplicity, Usability: Three of our favorite words. This is part one of a three part series on NewCoast Media distinctives. Over the next three posts, we’ll unpack this vision for you. Today we’ll focus on “beauty”.
Beauty…
This is one of the three main objective for a NewCoast Media site, logo, print project, etc. As the old saying goes, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. This quote has been around since it was paraphrased from Plato’s original work on the subject. For us, beauty means creativity, originality, and uniqueness. Even though we draw from elements of other sites and projects and in some cases do so to save our clients money (such as in pre-built template scenarios) we’re seeking these qualities in every project. Furthermore, as you’ll see as we unpack the other two distinctives, beauty can not mean “overly-designed”. We’ve all seen sites that look great upon first visit but become an eyesore as we really figure out what we are looking at.
Beauty also means staying up with current trends in web and print design. There is a certain quality that we aim to produce in every project that captures a modern look and feel from initial view. It’s so hard to put your finger on, but we hope that when you see our work, you’ll see these qualities.
Our next post will focus on simplicity…the idea that a visual communication piece says the right thing without saying too much or being lost in translation due to overuse / poor use of content and visual design elements.
